Saint Meinrad Seminary & School of Theology

Formation and Education for the Life of the Church

Month in Pictures: October 2015

The first day of fall was back in September, but there was not much evidence of a season change until mid-October. Temperatures began to cool and by the end of October the fall colors were out in full view. Saint Meinrad is a beautiful place all year, but fall is a perfect time to look around and admire God's creation.

There were several photo-worthy events on and around the Hill this month. The seminary held the Around the World party on October 2. This event allows students to explore and celebrate the foods and cultures represented by the seminary population.

Dr. Lori Carrell, vice chancellor of the University of Minnesota, Rochester, gave the annual Martin Lecture and Workshop in Homiletics the first week of October.

Every Sunday afternoon in October, Saint Meinrad holds a pilgrimage at the Monte Cassino Shrine to honor the Blessed Mother. This year, the Knights of Columbus attended the pilgrimage on the third Sunday.

Also in October, St. Boniface Parish in Fulda celebrated its 150th anniversary with Mass and a luncheon. Fr. Anthony Vinson, OSB, is pastor of St. Boniface Church, and several monks attended the celebration as well as Archbishop Joseph Tobin of the Archdiocese of Indianapolis.

All event photos in this month's post were taken by seminarian Minh Vu. The landscape pictures were taken by me and Minh.
