Saint Meinrad Archabbey Library Gallery, St. Meinrad, IN, will host an exhibit of photographs by Glenn DeBona. The exhibit titled “Life in Shadows and Light: The Photography of Glenn DeBona” will run from July 22, 2024, until August 29, 2024.
DeBona was born in New York City in 1930 and had a long career in television advertising. Since his teenage years, he developed a life-long relationship with photography, specializing in wildlife, sports, and travel. He has used a variety of formats, including 35 mm, digital (color and black and white) and 16 mm film.
For 14 years, he cared for his wife, Joan, who was afflicted and bedridden with severe Alzheimer’s disease, in their home on Long Island, NY. After his wife’s death in 2016, DeBona moved to his daughter’s home in Clarence Center, NY, where he operates three cameras by remote control with lenses of varying focal lengths to capture photographs of local birds and other animals common to western New York. Occasionally he goes to wildlife refuge centers to photograph more exotic or endangered species.
