We, members of the Benedictine Oblate Community of Saint Meinrad Archabbey, bear witness to the peace that the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the Rule of our Holy Father St. Benedict have brought into our lives.
We embrace in our lives the values taught in the holy Rule of St. Benedict, according to our station in life: stability of heart, fidelity to the spirit of the monastic life and obedience to the will of God. These open us in love to the social values of hospitality, service to others and responsible stewardship.
The goal of the oblate community is the promotion of holiness in each of its members. We seek to accomplish this through common prayer and work, by the grace of God.
We find value in being an oblate and invite others to share with us our oblate vocation. We pledge to help those who begin their spiritual journey as oblate novices to persevere in their chosen path.
We look to the future, pledging ourselves to encourage the development of leadership qualities among our oblates on the individual, chapter and organizational levels. We are faithful to the leadership of the archabbot of Saint Meinrad Archabbey, as reflected in the oblate director he has appointed.
As Benedictine Oblates of Saint Meinrad Archabbey, who desire the peace and stability of Benedictine life while living outside the monastery, we pledge to use our time, talent and treasure to continue the renewal started by our Holy Father St. Benedict. This oblate community will show to our Benedictine sisters and brothers, and to the world, the power of this vocation, lived with love and dedication.
Oblates are affiliated with a monastery and are bonded in prayer, love and commitment. They are partners in the prayer and works of the monastery.
